A few years ago, I was visiting my parents. After a steak lunch in town, Dad and I stopped by the jeweller on our way back to the car. It’s then that I saw it, my first sighting of a Stratos Grey Limited Edition Navitimer. Once on the wrist it felt and looked smaller than its 43mm, the absence of the usual white slide rule helping reduce proportions. It was an unexpected find, one I hadn’t budgeted for, so I was conflicted. With a limited edition of only 1000 it was unlikely I would ever find another brand new example, and it was its number – 704 – my Dad’s birthday (7th April), that sealed the deal.
