I received my great grandfathers pocket watch from my grandmother a few years ago and it means a lot to me. Not only is it an important family heirloom, but it also is a special piece of history. It might not be the rarest pocket watch in the world but I cherish it because of how long it’s been in my family and because of how amazing it is that it still works after almost 70 years. I don’t use it in everyday life because I prefer to wear wrist watches but I will frequently open my safe and when I can see it and hold it in my hands it brings a smile to my face. Unfortunately I never got to meet my great grandfather, but through his pocket watch I feel connected to him. It was very important to him because he received it as an engagement present and he cherished it as well when he was alive and now it is very important to me and I someday hope to pass it down when I have children.
