The Gruen wrist watch my father was wearing when he died 37-years ago, on New Year’s Eve 1983. He was only 50-years old. He had purchased it 3-to 5-years, earlier. My Mom gave it to me months after his death, and today it is kept, protected, in my WOLF watch box. Yes, the watch’s glass crystal and silver patina are showing their age; however, I would never want to have this watch repaired—and thus, altered—from how it was when my father wore it, that last day.  And if I take the 40-year old Gruen out of the watch box and I wind it—lo, and behold—it still runs! A testament to the fine quality and workmanship of Gruen wrist watches.
