The green submariner was always my grail Rolex when I first got into the trade. Mainly because I love the color green and also the Hulk has always been my favorite super hero growing up. I was wearing my Rolex 16710 with a Pepsi insert when an old friend came into our store wearing a green submariner. He came in to drop a necklace off for repair, but quickly made a bee-line when he saw how much our Rolex section had grown. We began chatting and I immediately complimented him on his green Submariner, but he mentioned to me that the green was a bit loud for his style, and that the watch felt a little too heavy for his wrist. He began to tell me that when he was younger he had a 16710 (very similar to the one I was wearing) which was always his favorite watch, and after he sold it he suffered from sellers remorse… Knowing that he wasn’t fully in love with his Hulk and that he missed his 16710, I suggested a trade. At the time, Hulks were trading for about $8,000 and 16710’s were trading for about $5,500. My friend/client was ecstatic because he had never considered a trade. Since I was a bit light on my end of the deal, I suggested a preowned 26mm Rolex Datejust for his wife. At the end of the deal both of us could not have been happier with the transaction! This was a little over 3 years ago and I still wear my Hulk nearly everyday. Even with its current hype, God willing, I will never sell!
It’s a watch that I will pass down to future generations! One day I hope to have children whom I can pass it on to. I look forward to being able to tell them the stories of how it got some of the scratches that it now has. (Like buying my first home and moving the furniture into it). In the picture is me wearing my watch, along with my dad wearing his favorite watch doing what we love.
